Dr. Palmer limits the number of incisions, usually to only an incision around the areola and a vertical incision below the areola. The nipple and areola are NOT removed and horizontal scaring is rarely necessary. Dr. Palmer also directly sutures the breast tissue to the chest, giving my patients better cleavage and a longer lasting lift. Sensation is usually preserved, and breast feeding is almost always possible after a breast reduction .No drains are used in the post-operative period, and there usually is very little post-operative pain. Patients can usually return to work or school within three to four days after surgery.
